Buses
There are many options for discounted bus travel! The best way to determine which suites you best is to work out the number of days you travel. If you have to, take more than one bus to your destination.

Single tickets
Return - These tickets are ¾ of the price of two singles.
For example if a single is £1 then buying a return will cost £1.50 saving you 50p
Dayrider - This ticket offers unlimited journeys all day.
7 day megarider - This ticket offers unlimited travel over seven days.
This maybe useful if you use the bus on a daily basis whether it is for work or an appointment. In addition to this you can also buy megariders for 4, 13, and 52 weeks. However it would be costly if you lost these!!
Flexirider – This enables you to buy 12 return journeys for the price of ten. This is valid for 28days.
Coolrider - This is an ID card which allows 16-17 year olds to purchase a ten journey ticket at a reduced rate. You can also apply for one if you are under 16.

Group tickets - This ticket covers two adults and two children or one adult and three children. This ticket is priced at double the normal day return.

Some bus companies do not recognise a Young Scot card to enable you to a discount so you can also apply for a bus concession card.
Trains
The Scotrail website gives up-to-date information on train times and the fares they have available. http://www.scotrail.co.uk/
In addition to the website, the following information gives you advice on what discounts are available for young people who choose to travel by train.
Young Scot entitlement card - You may have been issued one at school. The card is valid until you are 26. Once you reach 16 you can apply or will be issued with a voucher that enables you to apply for a young person's railcard. Both of these need to be shown to purchase tickets for trains. The card enables you to get up to a third off your tickets.

If you are aged between 16 – 25 you can apply for a young person's railcard. This enables you to have up to a third of rail tickets. Currently you need to pay £26.00 for a yearly pass. There is an offer on until 31st March that entitles you to 10% off this price. Click on the following link for further details:
